It is pretty obvious by now that the response from Israel’s far-right government, to October 7 attacks, was fueled by rage and revenge, which is exactly what Hamas wanted them to do. No one, including pro-Israel voices, can ignore the fact that Israel’s plans to eliminate Hamas has failed.
Far Right Government gone too far
Israel’s senior cabinet members Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich are incredibly far right, with Smotrich saying, “the plan was to cleanse Gaza of all Palestinians.“ This is becoming more of the reality now, leading to war crimes and ethnic cleansing.
At the start of this war, it was Israel’s right and duty to defend Israelis from any further attacks from Hamas. However, October 7 does not give Israel anymore rights to continue killing civilians on a daily basis, driving more Palestinians to join Hamas.
None of this makes Israelis and Jews around the world safer. And, Israel’s government has failed to get all the hostages out—putting them more at risk.
You have to wonder, if the average Israeli is pleased about this government’s actions. And are they willing to put up with it any longer?
How did Mossad not know about October 7 attacks?
Without any implications, let’s ask this question. For some reason, this was missed, and after the war, we will find out. What an amazing example of ‘dropping the ball’ and not realising why exactly Hamas was building tunnels under Gaza for over 20 years.
For this war to continue as long as it has, is because Netanyahu knows that he will be held accountable for October 7 attacks, for war crimes related to his raging response, and for corruption charges he is already facing. There is no incentive for Netanyahu to end this war.
Indiscriminate Bombing of Gaza
Israel’s military campaign, meant to dismantle Hamas, has flattened entire neighborhoods with 70% of Gaza destroyed, killing 70k-100k people.
Remember when everyone justified Israel blowing up an entire building with civilians in it, just to kill one Hamas terrorist?
This leads to a counter-argument of ‘proportionality’ in the laws of war that needs to be taken into account, but there is a growing sentiment that Israel has breached that.
Who is preventing a ceasefire?
Is it Israel or is it Hamas?
The best way to find out is; let independent journalists in the war zone to report accurately.
The only country blocking journalists from entering is, Israel. What are they hiding?
Smotrich told Netanyahu last year that if he did a ceasefire deal, he will bring down the government.
If Hamas returned all the hostages today, will there be a ceasefire? That is unlikely.
What should Israel do?
Israelis should be horrified, and should watch diverse range to media to understand different perspectives.
Israel’s government must regroup and look at what they did to Hezbollah, and come up with a different plan to eliminate Hamas where no civilians are harmed.
Israel has unbelievable resources, and they should be expected to defeat Hamas without killing civilians, and without destroying Gaza.
It is unproductive for Israel to keep going with its current plan.
This only ends when there is a two-state solution with a new government in Israel, new leadership in Palestine, and new alliance including other arab nations.
