A Fresh Approach, a group campaigning to bring “a fresh approach“ to the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board in Auckland New Zealand, may be not that fresh, after dropping Karin Horen.
Appearing on the Platform with Sean Plunket, Rowe Lewis said that Karin was dropped because her views such as family first values and sustainable immigration, does not align with their approach, which they refer to as fresh.
That doesn’t sound like fresh at all
Just what exactly is their “fresh approach”? No families with two parents? Attracting too many immigrants in Takapuna and Devonport? and no Jews allowed?
Here is a quote from their website:
“A Fresh Approach has always been about relevance. Staying relevant means bringing in fresh voices, new perspectives and great new skill sets. ” (Terence Harpur, Deputy Chair)
So.. you’re saying Karin Horen isn’t a fresh voice with relevance?
Let’s hear what she’s campaigning on:
I am committed to protecting our beaches and coastline, supporting youth activities and mental health and ensuring informed, inclusive decisions on public transport, roads and local businesses matters. I will advocate for community led solutions and promote connection, sustainability, healthy living and growth.
My top priorities for Devonport-Takapuna are:
1. Inclusive community events that reflect our area’s diversity and strengthen local connection;
2. More opportunities for youth through education, mentorship, and creativity;
3. Local businesses - Support local business growth, Hurstmere Rd for example, and promote our suburbs as a destination so our town centres thrive and attract more visitors including improving public transport and accessibility.
So why did they drop her exactly?
If you go back and listen to Rowe Lewis on The Platform, you will find the answer;
We’re a progressive group and Karin’s views and beliefs don’t align with us based on the social media posts she’s shared.
MIND BLOWN
So… “A Fresh Approach” is not about being relevant or fresh, as they claim, they are all about being PROGRESSIVE
Progressives love to engage in cancel culture because people have differing views and values.
If you want to be fresh and relevant, embraces a range of beliefs reflective of your community, that Karin Horen and others with similar beliefs are part of.
Aligning with people who have the same beliefs as you, is how we destroy the world around us.
But aligning with people with different ideas and beliefs is how communities thrive.
So let’s give them a new name;
‘A Woke Approach’
